About

Renee Chaffee, M.S., CCC-SLP is a board-certified pediatric speech-language pathologist with over 17 years of experience working in a variety of home, clinical, and educational settings. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Advanced Psychology from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada and her Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology from the University of North Dakota. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). She was also a recipient of the Award for Continuing Education (ACE) which is a formal recognition of professionals who have demonstrated their commitment to lifelong learning by earning 70 continuing education hours within a 3-year period. Renee has always been zealous about being a coach, mentor and leader with training multiple undergraduate and graduate interns over the 17 years.  She has given presentations and was active in training other SLPs within an educational setting. Renee is currently licensed in Nevada and California.

Renee has always been passionate about working with the pediatric population, especially with children with autism and developmental disabilities. With an Advanced Psychology degree, Renee became an ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) tutor in Canada before pursuing her Masters in Speech Language Pathology. She has extensive knowledge with the behavioral component of learning appropriate and functional speech/language communication skills. Renee is proficient in AAC (Alternative-Augmentative Communication), PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), CORE word approach to functional communication, and currently on her way to becoming a registered Spelling to Communicate Practitioner. S2C is a technique that teaches students with autism and apraxia the purposeful motor skills needed to communicate by spelling.

Over the course of her 22 years working with children who have complex communication and sensory-motor differences, Renee can attest to the considerable progress and growth that children experience when working closely with their families. Collaboration with caregivers is essential to inspire speech and language, and provides the opportunity for simple communication strategies and incentives to be introduced into the child's daily routine. Our hope and mission is that all children are given the opportunity to learn how to effectively communicate with the world around them, so that they can lead functional, happy and fulfilling lives.
